Bathymetry of the Southwest Indian Ridge and the location of ODP Hole 735B. This region was first drilled on Leg 118 in 1987 in which over 500 m of lower crustal olivine gabbro was cored. Leg 176 returned in the Fall of 1997 and deepened the hole to 1508 m below sea floor. The combined legs have almost 90% recovery and have yielded an enormous amount of information on the nature of accretion and deformation at slow-spreading oceanic spreading centers.
