Through proceeds from the Physical Geology Lab manual the Geosciences Department will offer qualified students a scholarship to encourage and assist presentation of their faculty-sponsored research at professional meetings.

• Who can apply?
  Graduate and undergraduate majors in Geology and Geophysics who are planning to attend a professional meeting and present a paper/poster. The student must be the first author (or presenter) on the abstract if others are involved.
  
  
• How do I apply?
  Step 1: Fill out and submit the accompanying pdf form along with a copy of your accepted abstract, Abstract Volume number, and page number to Dr. Yoshinobu.

• When will I get the funds?
  You will receive the scholarship after your return from the meeting. You are required to submit a photocopy of your abstract including Abstract Volume reference at this time.

• How much can I expect?
  The level of funding will depend on the type of meeting you attend:
  
  • Local Meetings (e.g., West Texas Geological Society) - up to $100
    
  • Regional Meetings (e.g., GSA South-Central) - up to $250
    
  • National Meetings (e.g., GSA National, AGU, AAPG) - up to $500
    
  • International Meetings (subject to approval by Outreach Committee)
    
    Not that these funding levels are subject to availability and number of applicants per year.
    
    
• How often can I get this support?
  The number of meetings for which a student may apply for support will depend on the student status, the type of meeting attended, any previous support granted, existing support from faculty advisor and other concerns.
